Knowing what critiques to take and which to leave is a big part of growing though. Everyone is always going to have feedback of some sort, and there can be extremely valuable information that is relevant to what you're doing. Learning what advice to apply is a skill in its own.

But to say the root problem of forums is a bit much, though as that "problem" is also it's strength, as you get a multitude of ideas, not just one persons. The opposite of the soapboxing issue based around artist pages on facey

Yes i agree 100%, I just saw a really bad case of it, so i thought i would just remind people of how crushing it can be on the otherside of a crit mobbing. (i was also involved, so i am also talking about myself i guess)

Which is why sometimes, I just disconnect (this can range from 3 days to 2 weeks ) from the forum, practice, and come back, post see what's up etc

Well that's essentially the root problem of forums though. Because we all went to give feedback in someone's sketchbook. Persona A Telling you to follow this, Persona B telling you to follow that etc.

especially when all that feedback is contradictory and different.

Hey guys... sometimes when you see some people giving some crits to an artist... you want to add your two cents. Keep in mind that too many people jumping in can be really overwhelming.

Good :) And beat that piece! You have extra EXP now, so it will be better!

03 Jun 04:44

John

And hey! Looking forward to that piece you're cooking up in your head!

03 Jun 04:44

John

I got to go back to hammering the piece down. Thanks for the chat! It took the frustration off of having that corrupted file. See you later!

8h cycling, 8h working, 8h sleeping. Hmm :P

03 Jun 04:40

Eyliana

--

Yeah.. but that ain't happening :P

03 Jun 04:40

John

You'd be turning your kicks into a lethal weapon if you took that brutal bike ride everyday haha!

03 Jun 04:39

Eyliana

--

Hmm not so pleasant. Even with taking a new shirt with you, you would be drowned by sweat

03 Jun 04:39

John

--

Haha! 200km! Work 'em thighs!

03 Jun 04:38

John

--

On this side, it isn't practical to ride a bike to work. You'd be drenched in sweat by the time you get to the place.. Basically the country is going to turn into a huge a wet t-shirt contest everyday if we depend on bikes for transportation.

03 Jun 04:36

Eyliana

--

Ja, I like them :) But I can't really cycle 200km a day :p

03 Jun 04:35

John

--

Sweet! Bikes are cool.

03 Jun 04:34

John

--

Christ. That's the kind of traffic that kills.

03 Jun 04:33

Eyliana

--

And we have bikes, a lot of bikes

03 Jun 04:32

Eyliana

--

Ja a lot :P but the company is located in the middle of nowhere. Takes me 3,5 -4h to get there with public traffic

03 Jun 04:32

John

--

Oh yeah, let's say you don't have a car, how do you get around?

03 Jun 04:32

John

--

Don't you guys have trains?

03 Jun 04:31

Eyliana

--

Haha no. I hate being depended on the car :P

03 Jun 04:31

John

--

... which is really NOTHING to cheer about haha!

03 Jun 04:30

John

--

Ahh well, can't use that "car's in the shop" excuse now, can you! Score one for developing countries!

03 Jun 04:30

Eyliana

--

Jep, the western world moves faasst

03 Jun 04:29

John

--

... I forget how faster everything is, outside where I'm from.

03 Jun 04:28

Eyliana

--

It's more that it cost like 400-500 euros to replace it

03 Jun 04:28

Eyliana

--

Hmm here they replace it in 2 hours :P Make an appointment, fix shield, dry done :)

03 Jun 04:27

John

--

Which begs the question, how are you going to go to work when the cars in the shop?

03 Jun 04:27

John

--

That does suck. That's at least a couple of days, or 3, just to replace the windshield here. Not even considering if there are other customers in need of repairing..
