I was just painting in the different parts with flat grayscale, I think maybe the values are a bit more tricky for me to interpret

I am thinking I could probably do the machinery as a 3d block out since I am 3d artist

what is the best way to tackle a piece like this I guess is my main question?

@Inagada: I probably get around 1 hour a day but it's pretty consistent since I've formed the habit over the past year or so and now it's pretty well built in.

so last night I attempted to do a painting from a black and white photo, I spent a good amount of time manually laying in perspective lines before I switched to corel painters built in perspective grid. Once I laid that in I started blocking in the shapes with colors of different values, but I don't know maybe this image I am doing is too advanced its basically machinery in a coal mine, right now it looks a mess even though I use perspective it may be just me but it seems

yea go through people's whole sketchbooks if you can you can read lots of helpful information and tips that are dropped along the way

The forum threads have quite a lot of useful info buried within so be sure to make use of the search function. Chances are if you have a question someone has already asked it and got answers

Consider the discord chat (blue icon top right under the banner) and you can usually chat specifics about art with others on there if you want feedback or advice, most will be helpful. Except me, I just harrass people and make them cry :)

@inagada, Start up a sketchbook thread in the Sketchbooks area and you can post everything up there. There is a dedicated area for finished work, but I rarely see people post or comment in those

1. perspective 2.make a sketchbook thread and post your stuff 3. All day, any time, even when you don't want to

3. I am trying to develop a daily habit to better discipline myself, but I constantly slip off the bandwagon. How many times a day/when do most of you find is a good time of day to start drawing/how many daily workout sketches do you think is a healthy start? (I wake up usually by 8am evry morning so I can be at work by 9am, and go to bed round 1am)

2. Which one of these boards do I post my loose sketch practises on vs my more elaborate 'done' pieces

1. What out of the many things I want to improve on should I be prioritizing working on FIRST? (anatomy, light, perspective, animals, etc)

So, I'm still very new here and unsure quite where to go yet-....I just began to return back to trying to improve myself across the board with my art; and I have 3 issues:

I use to make everything soft no hardness so i am trying to work on that more

20 Jan 04:01

I learned something super important though which seems like a no brainer put in painting its hard edged and the other side if soft edge so that alone is helping me a lot
