--Hi Rotten
31 May 16:26
--It's not that no one reads theoretical journals but that practicing artists lean towards technical study. Art history and anthropology is 95% reading scientific and philosophical papers.
31 May 16:26
--Yeah, the real reason I asked was so that anyone watching could find the page easily. I know how to find the threads created by another user. :-)
31 May 16:16
--I'm confused. If I'm gonna be a lazy bastard I shouldn't go and find it right after asking for someone else to do that work for me.
31 May 16:04
--Exactly. You can read about my thoughts on that in the fundamentals thread we had the other day
31 May 15:52
--That makes sense, I need to make the basic drawing skills automatic so my brain can focus on the bigger picture (literally).
31 May 15:51
--lol, yeah the only problem with that is you need to understand that your brain is a thing you need to train to do tasks automatically, which doesn't sit well with people that just want to logic everything.
31 May 15:46
--Like, people used to tell me I should forget about drawing 'cause I'm not the "arty type". They used as evidence the fact I read so much stuff and study math and science.
31 May 15:45
--Yes, illustrator types are. This is probably an unfair stereotype that has just been repeated to me too many times.
31 May 15:45
--You'd think that, but as somebody know the science of light. most illustrators don't know jack.
31 May 15:45
--maybe the fine arty people are more inclined to like images and stuff but most illustrator types are cold bone logical folks
31 May 15:45
--What is ever worse is when you get a scientist willing to pander to such reporting to circumvent peer review that would shoot down their shoddy research.
31 May 15:44
--Most of the scientific reporting out there is total garbage, just clickbait and hype.
31 May 15:43
--Now maybe this is a bit of a stereotype (I certainly don't fit into this), but most of the time artists aren't too scientific reports and the like, they like images and ideas more.
31 May 15:43
--or even logic to begin with, articles you see on social media are mostly clickbait
31 May 15:42
--only a tiiiiiiny fragment of the population knows about this http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-35nmTIcd-VU/TY...Levels.gif
31 May 15:42
--@OtherMuzz I agree, I read a lot of scientific papers on the subjects that interest me. It's just that most artists don't like to read. LOL
31 May 15:41
--Like there is almost always a science paper to do with some idea you have, and if you read it, it'll give you a better understanding.... but people don't do it
