@Muzz Yeah.. that's what I've been thinking..

Is Michael Hampton revered to the same degree as Loomis or Bridgman?

28 May 18:39

OtherMuzz

also... can anyone think of an amazing artist that cites their anatomy knowledge due to Hampton?

28 May 18:33

OtherMuzz

Also, i'm kinda badmouthing Hampton with it.

28 May 18:29

OtherMuzz

better to hedge my bets :P

Not controversial imo Muzz, rather on point

28 May 18:22

OtherMuzz

and yeah, kickass job everyone! Looks like everyone really pushed themselves. Especially all the people that have never done an illustration like that before!

So uh just started a controversial thread in art discussion, let the games begin.

Outstanding pieces in the CC3 finals thread, Daggers. Well bloody done <3

Hello

28 May 15:46

OtherMuzz

You have to think to yourself, "maybe i can solve this with a for loop" and try it, before you understand a for loop.

28 May 15:45

OtherMuzz

--

Of course there are, but those fundamentals are how to solve problems in code, not how to copy code line for line.

28 May 15:38

KurtJeremy

But don't you think there some stuff you need to learn first before you can start making stuff, Is there such things as "the fundamentals" that are very important to learn and build upon like that of the art fundamentals?

28 May 15:16

OtherMuzz

Once you manage that task, then you can think about following tutorials, and doing your own thing.

28 May 15:15

OtherMuzz

--

don't follow a tutorial, as coding is about learning problem solving, instead read the language reference, and the api documents for the engine.

28 May 15:15

OtherMuzz

--

Yes if you wanna code games, open a simple engine, and make pong, or snake.

coursera is another one

massive open online courses.... like khan academy, and edX

Moocs? What's that.

28 May 14:50

Amit Dutta

Moocs are good

28 May 14:48

Brian Hermelijn

some that comes to mind, and codeschools. And yeah, will have to think about that Muzz.

28 May 14:48

Brian Hermelijn

Like work on a tic-tac-toe game instead of learning each individual coding lines. But there is sites like codeacademy and code.org

28 May 14:47

Brian Hermelijn

--

There is many place you can learn coding, I think one thing I saw a lot of coders advise is to work on a project instead of learning individual codes, since you will learn best.

28 May 14:37

KurtJeremy

Can coding be self taught like what we are doing here in CD, you think?

28 May 14:17

OtherMuzz

--

If you want to sell things, solve problems you have in your life, and actually use. Then make it pretty and marketable.

28 May 13:48

Brian Hermelijn

--

Alright. It does make sense, since that's how you came up with Color Constructor. Which solves one problem for artists. Interesting, hmm.

28 May 13:44

OtherMuzz

--

Being an artist. I solve problems that i have with my art with coding.

28 May 13:44

Brian Hermelijn

has already been like working for agencies (specifically designers or programmers), so it's much easier probably for them to come up with products they could sell and also feel motivated to do vs someone who has no experience on building a product or selling it on platforms like gumroad/creativemarket. Do you think that has to do with, developing conceptual thinking?

28 May 13:43

Brian Hermelijn

--

Hey Muzz. I have a question. As I already know, you do programming and a lot of things. And since I am like focusing on design, what do you feel has helped you coming up with products that solution peoples problem. Since that's like the biggest part of design. Because from what I saw, lets say if someone wants to sell on other platforms, I noticed most of those sellers

Seeing as there are so few finals this time, we are offering a one off deal. The threads will remain open for another few unspecified number of hours. If you are finishing your work, do it and submit! And so we aren't insulting the folks who actually got in on time, you guys can improve on your pieces and update,or just go sleep..
