--Yeah RP the local connection defo helps! In fact most of my clients atm are local, which is a big difference from a year ago, where they were all international. I prefer it, you can meet in person and get direct referrals. I was treated to my first client paid-for dinner and beers a couple of weeks ago :P

--@Amit helps when you live in the same area or have a person who does. I had a dA friend have coffee with keith Thompson and he answered some of my questions through email. I followed an Author illustrator on his webpage and got a mention in the acknowledgements of his next book.
