--Yeah I know...
16 May 20:03
--well there is some objective stuff like your art being good enough to get consistent work
16 May 20:03
--I worked towards nothing. I just enjoyed myself, and enjoyed learning. That's all
16 May 20:02
--@Amit So what were you working towards to? There must be an end goal to your means.
16 May 20:02
--Sure then, I'm a pro artist. lol. The desire to become pro, or rather the FEAR that I wouldn't , was actually holding me back. When I got rid of that, everything just worked out.
16 May 20:02
--One other thing to consider about 16 hour days: The longer and the more consistently you do something the more it becomes routine, and the more you become unable of changing that routine the more you get stuck. Art isn't like weightlifting. You don't get 'gains' just by doing the same thing over and over again acording to a strict plan.
16 May 20:02
--well yeah thats waht pro means proffesional aka thats your proffesion aka source of income
16 May 20:01
--Well yeah I am doing it as my main source of income....so pro in that sense.
16 May 20:01
--in the end its just a 3d illusion on a 2d plane but there is so much potential
16 May 20:00
--honestly i do art because i find it interesting there something in it that fascinates me
16 May 20:00
--I actually made the biggest leap forward in my "head game" with art, when I gave up all hope of ever becoming pro. Sounds odd, but it worked. The desire was screwing me up entirely
16 May 19:59
--This is a stupid thing to say. But people doing anything because they are simply motivated will taper off. Motivation is a fleeting thing.
16 May 19:59
--seriously 1 hour of drawing really hard shit a day is waaaaay better than 16 hours of sketches
16 May 19:59
--yeah and i did that too i drew 12 hours a day for years and i wouldnt say those hours were the most productive
16 May 19:58
--If you require art to live, then admitting to yourself that you have major flaws in your approach can be impossible, because it is undermining yourself. You need to be a valid person without art.
16 May 19:58
--yeah its a fairly popular opinion too that if youre not drawing 16 hours a day you are not gonna make it
16 May 19:57
--Agreed 100%. I know that's why I'm not making as much progress with things that matter to me. It's so much easier to see your own mistakes and correct them, when you aren't afraid of admitting to yourself how far you have to go.
16 May 19:56
--All I can say guys, is I've been through this whole retarded head game....and I have come out the other side with zero fear of failure or whether people like my work or not. You DO NOT need that as motivation
16 May 19:55
--if something matters to you, the thought of not succeeding at it is terrifying
