I know this sounds 'wrong', and it goes against the general consensis of hard work paying off, but if you struggle too hard you don't get anywhere. I think you should stop beating yourself up over that kind of thing, and try looking for the path of least resistance instead.

That overwhelming feeling?

@Lodratio. Not yet. I should install it...I want that animation. My version crashes everytime I try and paint on the preview panel for any brush setting! They broke something in the 2.9.11 build....very annoying.

Hmm.. do you feel like you're tackling a lot in your art?

16 May 19:44

Hobitt

--

yeah

16 May 19:43

John

--

I know that feeling. Working a job to get home to work on something to get a job.

16 May 19:42

Hobitt

--

adn by taking time off it would seem to me that im being lazy and not getting closer to my goals

16 May 19:41

Hobitt

--

and i work a job already so time is limited

16 May 19:41

Hobitt

--

altough im too afraid to even try it this work hard nonstop mentality has been my life for the past 4 years

16 May 19:41

John

--

I operate like that. If I don't I'd be pushing colors by the pixel by the Nth hour.

16 May 19:40

Hobitt

--

since this whole draw 24/7 nonstop might not be that productive

16 May 19:40

Hobitt

--

just limit the time in the day when you work like a job

16 May 19:39

John

--

What do you mean? Like setting up a deadline?

16 May 19:39

Hobitt

--

that would kind of put a limit onto you and you wouldnt procrastinate since the logic being "i work now and in the end of the day i get an hour off to do whatever"

16 May 19:38

Hobitt

--

would it be more productive to have an hour or two in the days where you dont paint in the end of the day thats when youre "done for the day"

16 May 19:38

Hobitt

--

i was thinking the other day

16 May 19:37

John

Putting the 'pro' in procrastination.

John

@Hob How's the simplicity studies and technique going?

16 May 19:36

Lodratio

--

16 May 19:36

John

I'm babbling!

16 May 19:36

Lodratio

Yo amit, have you tried the krita 3.0 beta? The brushes are so much more responsive than they used to be, it's crazy!

16 May 19:35

John

--

@Hob That's probably a good reason to study old masters. Speaking in terms of, they did something that works for you. Something they did aesthetically pleases you.

16 May 19:29

John

--

Yikes?

16 May 19:29

Hobitt

--

sometimes i look at old masters and think i wish i would paint like that but i think i start to realize that i should try to do what works for me

16 May 19:28

Amit Dutta

--

Maybe if I did it for long enough?

16 May 19:28

John

--

@Amit Wouldn't that kill your wrist?

16 May 19:27

John

Moral of the story. Gamble!

John

Speaking of galleries, I remember this Dave Choe story when he couldn't sell enough paintings to get by when he was selling them dirt cheap. So he said fuck it and raised the price on every piece he made. Sustained himself by gambling, and he was getting thousands when he got a painting sold.

Funny story. I've been doing so much 3D of late, I find myself painting in Krita with a mouse without realising!
