--Loish is great!
15 May 00:33
--Ok then Muzz. At least give me Loish. You think Loish's light and color rendering resembles the real world? Those pastelly colors?
15 May 00:33
--No worries john, Maybe i should make it clear that when i talk with such strong conviction that i am talking very clearly about realism based illustration, not flat 2d work or impressionism.

--(Walent is on this forum) Pretty sure you might have seen his sketchbook, he has been here for a while.
15 May 00:31
--In my case no, but I do practice form. And it will always be something that I practice, just the goal for me in my case, would be to still have like some of the rhythms within the characters, if you're familiar Walent, Muzz, then that's the ideal place for me at least.

--If you want to draw like John K, then i wouldn't be trying to help as that isn't my area. I can't help there.
15 May 00:26
--We aren't talking about them. In the context of everything we have discussed, we are talking about paintings that have a basis in stylized realism, with good perspective, nice rhythm and light that resembles the real world.
15 May 00:24
--Ideally, for you and whoever is trying to achieve a certain style you share with.
15 May 00:23
--Well my point is that it is a tangent that isn't helping your cause if you don't want to draw like that. Ideally you want to get to a point where you can draw perfect form no?
15 May 00:21
--I can't speak for them whether or not they intend to do what they're doing. But I think we can both agree they both have fans on their own. People dig their shit.
15 May 00:21
--But to be fair, if you wanna draw like john k, why the heck are you learning from hampton or drawing hundreds of hands?
15 May 00:20
--I'm not going to disagree that there is valid art that breaks form, it's just very rare that you would be using an art style that needs it. Elsevilla's lack of control of form objectivley harms his work, wheras john K's flattening of form is very intentional

--Anyway, what I'm getting at here is... Muzz approach/style is classical. Trying to achieve something close to reality as possible. Hermi and me, we're defending the ways to get to styles outside of, for the lack of a better term, high-brow art. Cartoons are more heavily dependent on rhythm than, say, a clean perspective.

--Yeah of course, If you want to understand why i think the way i do, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV3sBlRgzTI

--Just questioning everything at the moment, since that's also part of the learning process I guess.
15 May 00:13
--But is that drawing hierarchy always the end all be all, like the number one should follow to reach their goal?
15 May 00:13
--Eh i have work to do now, but essentially drawing skills can be thought of as a heirachy. Rhythm is a high level skill.
