--In the process of learning, everyone takes up habits that are 'better than what they did before', but that are still technically flawed. I take breaks from art for a few days sometimes, and my lines always feel better afterwards. Gotta get bad habits out of your brain.

--even if the values are exactly the same you can completely change the way planes read by adjusting the edges. minimizing in general is a really good thing to do. Helps with realizing what is essencial to painting, and what's just fluff.

--yea, that kind of thing was a complete mystery to me for a while as well. You can imply a lot of things with edges and brushstroke direction, and patterns can make the viewer see details in a painting that you didn't even put there. It's pretty crazy how loose you can get and still have your paintings read if you know what you're doing.
