--... the only way to get an expo floor plan in advance is download their guidebook app! As much as I loath owning a smartphone and its bill, it seems that they're mandatory to do business as an artist - especially on my own right now.

--I agree reading is not enough. I actually have no problems with reading and writing (ok from a not native speaker perspective) but when it comes to speaking it a whole another story. Only lately a get some speaking experience thanks to the internet and skype

--Just reading probably won't get you anywhere, but trying to understand the structure of a story, and thinking about why writers you like make the decisions they do can be helpful. You still have to write to internalize that knowledge, obviously. It's the same way it is in art.
