Maybe even things like your standard holliwood action movie script that always follows the same patterns, something like a heroes jouney generating program doesn't seem that far-fetched. The limit is always that point where people step outside convention and create something new.

You're completely right. Though for formulaeic stuff like iconic movie shots, portraits and pop up art, where you don't need a whole lot of originality to begin with it should be a lot easier to replace humans with computers.

And the computer program that made that Rembrandt is no different. Furthermore, it can only copy what Rembrandt painted based on statistical analysis of his paintings. It cannot create anything else unless someone comes along and writes new code. We cannot know Rembrandt would paint if he lived now and saw the world as it is today. That's the difference between a computer program and a person.

We tend to forget that all the achievements of computers so far are only reflections of the dedication, ingenuity, and patience of the human programmers that spent hours and hours crafting lines of code and further long hours chasing down bugs– for months on end.

The process used to create the Next Rembrandt is fascinating. BUT, remember that computers can only follow simple instructions we give them, it's just that they do them very very quickly–we do not know how to create a true AI, and until we understand the origins of consciousness I don't think we can create a true, "strong" AI (i.e., the kind that thinks).

I think with whatever form AI takes down the line, the analysis crunching will be merged with creative insight...and then watch out!

There will be AI art and human art. Better deal with it now. :)

indeed

True, it misses things. But I find it amazing how they can analyse it and a computer is able to create something recognizable out if. But it also displays that computers are really good at analysing and not so much at creating something new

lol they spend so much time and recources to make a avarage rembrandt painting when a skilled artists could make a more convincing knock off in less time, and it even doesent look that great

Researching stuff for my thesis, it always feels so useless when information is just not to be found. And there :)?
