--Yeah. Mostly I need to wrap my head around perspective. I'm getting the Scott Robertson book on How to Draw-- Hopefully this coming week. So I'm pretty excited about that. :)
25 Jan 02:17
--Yup. Btw, from looking at your sketchbook your recent studies look pretty good, so don't sell yourself too short. I think you should be able to improve your imagination work substantially if you focus on it for a bit.
25 Jan 02:14
--I think it's hardest to see our own problems in our work, though, because we spend so much time looking at it.
25 Jan 02:13
--I always like to say... 'We all have eyes.' But, I still feel kind of lame trying to give advice when my work isn't exactly awesome. :)
25 Jan 02:11
--Nah, I don't think that's how it works. You don't need to be a chef to critique food, and the same goes for art. My brother can't draw for shit, but he's pretty damn good at pointing out problems with my art that I'm not aware of, and your advice feels on point to me.
25 Jan 02:04
--Only hope I can help a little. :) I probably have a longer way to go than you do, though, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
25 Jan 01:55
--I think I agree with you there, your more recent one is showing a stronger grasp of lighting and form. And, although it isn't perfect-- It's definitely headed in the right direction.

--Thanks bru. I wasn't really planning on going anywhere with that painting, but I kept going because it was working out really well. I agree 100% that it's pretty uninspiring in terms of subject matter, but the thing I'm confused about is that it feels like the rendering is much better than anything else I've ever done for some reason, and I 'm unsure whether I'm just deceiving myself into thinking that it does.
25 Jan 01:23
--Does that make sense? It's just my critique of the piece and how you might want to make your compositions better in the future, possibly. But, I'm no expert. :)
25 Jan 01:22
--Lodratio-- It depends on what you want to do with this piece. I'm seeing a tower, a tree, and clouds. And it all looks pretty good, in terms of rendering. But, it's a bit boring, if it's meant to be a set up in an environment. It doesn't really engage me into wondering what's going on, and it doesn't have anything interesting to pull me in. There's also a lot of dead space in terms of sky, and you could possibly choose a more interesting angle. :)
25 Jan 00:51
--by the way, if someone feels like giving me a crit for https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6B6bi.../tower.png that'd be cool.

--For some reason the context buttons are at the top of the screen on my tablet, so I've kind of surrendered myself to doing everything with keyboard shortcuts at this point.
24 Jan 13:16
--nvm I think Ill go with the radial menu option instead, mapped to the button I used to switch to brush tool. I guess one of my wacom tablet buttons breaking wasnt a bad thing after all, since It forced me to look at another way and in turn it contributed at making my workflow more efficent
24 Jan 13:08
--Is it possible to map 2 tools on the same wacom button so that pushing the button alternates between them? I want to map the eraser and brush tool to the same button, but Im not sure how.
