They do childrens book-type drawings so I would love to do it. But I'm definitely not shelling out almost 200grand for a degree I don't need haha

if you had to work at a greeting card company Im sure it would burn you out and make you not want to work on art after work

I think a job thats art related thats not what you want to be doing will only drain you and make the road to where you want to be harder than it needs to be

The art museum is also hiring, but it's a night shift and the buses don't run that late.

There is a greeting card company nearby, but sadly they require a degree. The only time I've ever heard of a company doing this.

I just got done with some crappy factory job, and I'll be going to another crappy retail job. But easy paycheck and time to draw. Gotta ignore the crazy people in this area until I can do art full time.

I wish. The downside in living in a cheap neighborhood is it's all retail related jobs

06 Nov 04:22

--

What do you do part time - art related?

06 Nov 04:19

DanialG

--

Oh I'm not full time yet.

06 Nov 04:04

--

Thanks. How has your success been in this area Dan? Do you know anything about IP development and such?

When you're not on a commission, either study, market/advertise, or preferably do personal work. The more often your portfolio is different than it was the last time someone looked at it, the chances of companies seeing you're a hard worker and offering you work goes up.

Alex Negrea has a great gumroad, basically like learning a language. Study, draw same pose from memory, redraw the study, redraw the same pose from memory, etc

Part time job+roomate/living with parents for a few years. Slowly work until you're able to quit your part time job and do art full time. Extra points if you're willing to move to an area where rent is so cheap that some of the stress goes away.

How the hell are we going to make money from our art, we're screwed
