Punky: A couple years back I had that same thought, "I fail so much at life and jobless, I should just 'bow out', and stop using up resources someone who is actually doing something with their life make better use of these resources, like that spot in that class, food, air." I felt I shouldn't live. So then should I 'bow out'?

It is just a lot of box if you pay attention. Try something like this. I don't know, maybe it can help you

punk, I usually don't sketch environment so it is pretty hard for me but when I want to practice some perspective I sketch some of these http://imgur.com/a/TcYCI

I wish I could understand that.. it's.. so out of reach right now, so frustrating

and just remember - _everything_ fits inside a box

It all comes down to mileage in the end. When you keep studying perspective, things start clicking and you'll see things differently.

But they all relate haha. If you can visualise 3D shapes, landscapes and composition in general becomes a lot easier.

like, I honestly have NO IDEA how you make a landscape be a 3d perspective .. t.. doesn't work.. it's not a box, I don't get it

hah.. if it was just /one/ thing it'd be fine.. perspective, value, basic ability to think in 3d.. it's all lacking.. landscape == durr what?

I'm not saying to study the exact thing you're doing now in the EDRocks assignment - it's probably a fundamental skill that you're lacking in more than anything. Keep pushing gurrrl <3

Top Cat, you've got this. Sure, you're having a hard time now, but you should evaluate what you're finding to be difficult and so when you have the time - go back to that thing and work at it until you feel comfortable.

I feel like I should bow out and let someone who can actually /do/ this stuff have my critique spot..

Note about Dip ink Nibs, you look like you haven't actually dipped it into the ink far enough for the nib to hold it.

But that's not a fountain pen and I don't blob but just don't get the ink flowing

07 Oct 21:50

Then my only other suggestion is just to research nib pen maintenance. They're pretty straightforward. The only real way they can be faulty is if they fall apart.

The nibs can still fall out of alignment over time, so the groove isn't straight and they blob ink rather than let it flow.

My nib seems pretty clear and not as new :c

07 Oct 21:45

or 2, press the nib onto a hard flat surface SLIGHTLY to open up the groove. Sometimes new nibs can be too narrow for ink to flow over it properly.

You need to either 1, clean the nibs properly. Any dried ink in the groove interrupting the flow, general dirt and dust etc.
