I'm torn between traditional (where I want to work) and digital - where it's easiest to do these kinds of studies.. and my digital work is horrible as far as accuracy goes as well

Wifey says Hi by the way. XD

standing far away or making the image super small also helps you see big shapes

But.. Gentle-cross-eyed. lol

Yeah, I think I get so that I'm afraid to sit down and really try and nail it because I can't get it right, then I just get pissed off with myself

26 Sep 08:39

It's kinda like going cross-eyed.

I can blur stuff without squinting, but.. I'm not sure how to explain how to do that.. lol.

also - those value studies.. I keep hearing "squint" - well I'm super blind, squinting amkes things /clearer/ is there another method to blurr stuff to make it easier?

Even the loosest looking works by great artists are deceptive because it takes even more effort to pull off! :)

I think half my problem is everything I do is quick sketches, I can't sit still long enough to do a full study of anything

Heya punkmeister, I think accuracy is important up to a point, totally depends on what you are studying. It's not that it will make you a copy machine, but about translating accuracy into your own process. Ah ha yep book beet me to it :)

I recommend working with a grid at first. That's what helped me a ton. And spend a lot of time on one study.

I know what you mean Punky. I think it's .. Fairly important, because if you can't put something down on paper accurately, it's unlikely that you'll be able to conjure up accurate shapes in your head either. The trick is to make sure to apply this accuracy to your own work.

26 Sep 08:35

Adam Lina

well its boring if the subject you're copying is boring. maybe you should pick stuff that you really like?

26 Sep 08:33

Punk-A-Cat

so.. I have a question, which is bugging the heck out of me.. How important is it to nail accuracy, I mean, is it something that gets better with time, or is it something I should just go do a ton of direct copies as accurately as I can and then I'll be better at it? Because it really is a problem for me, but I don't want to be a copy machine because that is boring as hell, and I get distracted and then it ends up inaccurate

To be fair, I'm putting a lot of work into that thread, for my own personal reference materials... I still have like 10 magazines to go through and find artists. Squee.

First case too small, new one shorter but taller. Just this ATI Radeon has this unusual foot sticking out the back. Juuuust too long for the case.
