--Obama was opposed by the ..senate? llike, the opposition owned him, he could do jack shit.. and frankly.. he has a family, if he pushed too hard, who knows what might have happened to the people he cared about.. political assassination is rather a common thread in american history

--I have mixed feelings about immigration. I think yes, unidentified refugees need to be processed because - we need that info. The treatment of them and the way it's handled politically is pathetic.
24 Sep 08:13
--Well, the thing about the US is that left-wing political party is -actually- just slightly less right-wing political party. :P It doesn't really matter who you vote for. Obama was supposed to be an exception, and.. From what I can see, he didn't do much with his country, and what he -did- do, people -appear- to be pissed off about-- But I'm not well-versed on the States.

--Yep, Roos will kick your head in if you get all up in their grill. Don't think there isn't an aussie anywhere that wasn't kicked to the ground as a kid in the animal parks :D Yep, still illegal for same sex partners to marry. Trans who legally change gender are ok because once it's on the certificate - who would know.

--they are /considering/ Donald Trump for political power ffs.. I don't see many redeeming features sorry

--But, I wouldn't live there either. I come from Canada, so.. I can always go back there if things get -really- hairy.
24 Sep 08:10
--Right now, Canada and America are pretty much the places to be. And they're not easy to get to, so they are shielded from most of this.
24 Sep 08:10
--I'm sure that the Aussies are also pretty harsh towards regular, kind folks who are coming in from other countries, and that's a real shame.. But, with the way things are going in Europe, and how it's out of control, it's not really a surprise either.

--The aussies sent the ones they didn't know who they were to the Island, because they refused to identify themselves, and they couldn't be sent back to their home country because they wouldn't tell them where it was.
24 Sep 08:09
--The truth is, if you are kind, decent people, who believe in freedom, equality, and diversity-- Then you need to be careful about who you let into your country and know who they are. If you don't know who they are, you shouldn't let them in.
24 Sep 08:08
--And destroy their own country in the process. Everything they hold dear, because they're being silly.
24 Sep 08:07
--Yeah, a lot of this IS self-inflicted-- Countries afraid to be called racist or anti-liberal, basically, so they bite their tongue and let people in and have a 'nice' public face.

--Sometimes, the actions of a few (or a LOT) mean that everyone else gets the short end of a stick. That's what having a law is about. If you don't, then this happens : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULCrmGKf...verified=1

--if it's been a years long problem, then they should have got off their asses and made a ..word.. thing.. for processing them in - some of this seems self inflicted tbh
24 Sep 08:03
--nz being so far away doesn't get boatloads of immigrants turn up.. we get a few who come and then try and claim to stay due to fear of returning to their home country - generally if they have no criminal record and can prove they would be in danger they get to stay
24 Sep 08:01
--*shrugs* I haven't been following the european stuff, i just know the aussie situation is different and the way the immigrants there are treated is disgusting
24 Sep 08:01
--If they have no way of being identified, and most of them don't, the option is to let them in, or send them back.
