--yep, I know.. if I'd drawn more and read less I'd be better at art and less good at writing, so swings and roundabouts

--heh.. I was watching KNK show this morning - dude showing work he did when he was 13, and saying how bad it is, and I'm all "BUT I CAN'T DO THAT NOW!".. gah.. times when you just shouldn't look.. you know?
21 Sep 08:02
--Yeah, I think I will! Thanks. :) That program seems reeeally useful, too. Glad Amit introduced it.
21 Sep 08:02
--you could use that carapice thing, and just find the horizon line and vanishing points in some images too, that would honestly be a good exercise
21 Sep 08:01
--I think I just put 'drawings', which seems kind of general.. I think I'll include thumbnails. But, I'll make sure that they work.
21 Sep 08:01
--mhm really, thank you, I hadn't thought about it being a form issue.. so that's really helpful
21 Sep 08:00
--yeah 88 thumbnails of perspective would be ok - 88 boxes in perspective, but 88 whole studies..
21 Sep 08:00
--I'm going back to -those- particular basics after I do my perspective insanity deathline. I may have to edit it.. 88 perspective pieces seems like a lot to do in a month. Hands/arms are different.

--I did block out where I wanted the darks and lights, and painted over that.. but yeah.. I'm missing the form I guess
21 Sep 07:59
--But essentially, getting to know how light strikes a cube/sphere/cone/etc, from different angles, is what helps us all.
21 Sep 07:58
--You're great at setting up composition, I think, Punky. The values will come. I think starting with simplified 3d objects is probably the best-- Then you create more complex shapes by putting those 3d objects together. Fitting them together, and then layering details on them
21 Sep 07:57
--Getting to do these little pieces helps us to see (even if it's painful), where we need help the most.
21 Sep 07:57
--Value studies help a lot with rendering, I think. I also fail at the rendering aspects.. My Rusalka was so lost in terms of actually pushing those values and understanding what was happening with lighting.
21 Sep 07:56
--It's muddy, but it still works! I think the textural aspects of the man's skintone were very interesting and thinking outside the box.
21 Sep 07:56
--I think I should probably quit trying to do digital and concentrate on getting ink and watercolour to look good instead, I could have spent the same length of time and gotten different results
21 Sep 07:54
--the rendering is /so/ bad though.. I had no idea what I was doing.. and it shows :D
21 Sep 07:46
--Yours really had the best preliminary sketches, I think. Really captured the idea well.
21 Sep 07:46
--OR. You win even harder, 'cause everyone is too intimidated to post their finals. XD
