--The risk of internet text.... easy to misread.
18 Sep 13:23
--I don't know you enough to be upset :) and I'm not the one saying sorry :)
18 Sep 13:21
--What you see doesn't change what actually is. Not that there's a problem. Just know that discussion involves a bit more being brought to the table than just using the same material.
18 Sep 13:14
--I don't take things. I respond. I disagreed with you and you argued my disagreeing with you. No big.
18 Sep 13:12
--A blurred computer generated image and a professiknally made up and photographed image are not 'average' people.
18 Sep 13:11
--'Yea but can you.' What is this, highschool? Yes Adam, I and many other could most definitely draw a cartoon likeness. I will say that with such distorted examples leave little to base a satirical representation from.
18 Sep 13:04
--The groove at the center of her nose is quite distinguished but with heavy makeup and exaggerated lighting, once again it's a distorted example. She does have nice swooping brow though.
18 Sep 12:48
--Also, NASA engineers designed space makeup kit for female astronauts, and found out they didn't particularly care for make up while working in the ISS.
18 Sep 12:47
--I just found out having a period in the ISS is exactly the same as on Earth. Fascinating!

--ok how about her?http://www.photovideoedu.com/Portals/0/Lighting/Amherst_Small_Flash_Photography_image_03.jpg

--That's the composite face. Not a real person. Flawless skin generated by an algorithm that's main purpose was to locate the common features of multiple subjects. That's asking someone to draw an accurate portrait of a fictional character, or draw a Dali, only more surreal.
18 Sep 12:32
--like how easy would this girl be to caricature? https://www.robnicholls.co.uk/files/aver...mahito.jpg
18 Sep 12:28
--Yep. And vague gestures are their own lamguage. They can't think of and words so there's lot of hand motions and 'The thing, with the blue bit, and you use it in gardening' etc. Etc.
18 Sep 11:52
--Working in retail gave the same impression. I knew when people were gonna come up to me and ask the dumbest questions.
18 Sep 11:52
--One thing I learned in customer service - stereotypes exist. A bit more varied but I can generally tell right off what they're going to be like.
18 Sep 11:51
--cartooning is the same kind of design language though.. a good skill to learn I think, being able to push things right to their limit gives you a sense of movement. Something I need to work on a lot, kids illustrations need that
18 Sep 11:48
--Plus I think Jason Seiler talks about caricatures for average looking people in his course, I'd like to take it one of these days.
18 Sep 11:47
--I think if you do enough of it it becomes slightly intuative but sure, if you've never done it before, it's rather daunting
18 Sep 11:46
--it's like a design language, you need to keep a likeness, and balance, while pushing the features which are most distinguishably the person, I used to do a lot if it, back at high school (I may have sat in class and done it to every teacher I had instead of working)
18 Sep 11:43
--Depends on what kind of caricatures we're talking about here, someone having to do it in less than 5minutes with marker, or someone doing it for say Time, Life, ESPN, etc. In one case you only have to cartoonize them while still keeping somewhat of a likeness, while the other requires realism, while still being exaggerated. I would still consider the average amusement park employee still having a tough job
18 Sep 11:43
--Yeah I have to say there's no average face. I'm particularly keen when it comes to spotting nuances in peoples faces.
18 Sep 11:41
--also.. recently - can't remember where- very interesting discussion on shape/ psychology and manga faces - big eyes is seen as cute - babies tend to have bigger eyes, small chins are the result of low testosterone, so small chins are seen as feminine, so part of the design being so cute is a subconscious reference back to what makes cute and feminine - was much more involved but I don't remember well enough to express it
18 Sep 11:36
--everyone has something about them which can be exaggerated.. I find it easier to do that then draw accurately though
