I've sent emails back and forth with book publishers, board game people, game devs, just talking about what they're looking for in an artist. I send them some my work and I am just up front with that I'm a student and will continue to be a student for the next 2 years but that I'm interested in working for them and I want to know what they look for and what they pay.
