Hmm, you know, I think some things that could really help grow some audience as well for this community is, an active twitter account. Of course that's a whole beast on itself, if someone is up for the task to do that.

Cool! Not sure if I'll sign up, though. Your dwarf's looking great, but I think the angle of the head/face might be off a bit. The original looks like it's tilted more downwards. Just something to look at. I could be wrong :)

I don't suppose it _has_ any context

More seriously speaking though, haven't played the game yet, but even a woman doing that is kind of weird. Just jump down from an airplane and roll around in the rain. I don't really understand the context, but.. Yeah.

It certainly shouldn't be the _only_ thing you ever draw

really? what do you not like about them? I can't stand the ones that are just a full painting sped up and then called "speedpaint", but if it's actually just a quick composition, I find them really fun to watch, like these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpFx7x8zhSw

I'll take your word for it, I've never tired to do one, and don't really know how they work, watching them is not my thing so I dubt it'd be something I'd get into either

12 Sep 13:56

Fedodika

--

I do think they train art muscles because you're forcing your brain to compute things at high speeds involved in science and light

12 Sep 13:55

Fedodika

--

well you could apply that same logic of hurting beginners self esteem to incredible finished pieces as well

12 Sep 13:54

Punk-A-Cat

--

One of them did say it was good for composing and getting light etc right, so then you could go away and do a 'proper' image with everything worked out.. heh.. couple of scathing talks about them though, which I hadn't expected, since I'd never thought anything of speedpainting.. just another thing I don't know how to do.

12 Sep 13:50

Fedodika

--

yea i do too, speedpaintings have mullins endorsement tho, so i guess i'll go with that :)

12 Sep 13:49

Punk-A-Cat

--

dunno, I've never done it, so can't comment personally, I don't enjoy watching them though

12 Sep 13:49

Punk-A-Cat

They were explaining it as not building art muscles - you don't build stamina to spend more than an hour on an image, plus not being good for beginners self esteme

ehh i disagree i think speedpainting can be inspiring, it definitely made me want to start painting about 2 years ago
