Me too, I've got a bad cold so I came home early and got some sedatives from the chemist. I thought I'd have time to work on art or do an article on the books as I mentioned - but no, lung-spasms... And too tired to fight them.

Still a good point to keep in mind though

Yeah!! And if you paraphrase stuff -- I do this a lot -- it helps you remember it better as well :D Win-win

09 Sep 16:23

Punk-A-Cat

considering you can reviw a book and basically summarise it within a review, I wouldn't stress too much

09 Sep 16:23

Then whoever wants to know more can just ask.

09 Sep 16:22

Yeah, I used to attend and art meet in my town and would bring a few texts with me, I was just considering what would be the appropriate online equivalent of 'lending a book'. A forum thread of just the titles and a few points maybe.

I think nz/ aussie copyright allows you to share 10% of any work for the purposes of teaching

09 Sep 16:20

vlada

--

college teachers "violate" copyright like that all the time

09 Sep 16:19

vlada

Privately sharing a screencap in a PM or something is probably okay :)

09 Sep 16:19

vlada

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you're mass-uploading and distributing large portions of it somewhere

09 Sep 16:18

RottenPocket

I know if it's the entire thing it violates permissions but if it's an excerpt or review it goes into a sort of grey area.

09 Sep 16:16

vlada

Any kinda reproduction is technically illegal but you can always paraphrase it??

09 Sep 16:07

So theoretically, is sharing with people online, snippets of a book that I've already bought, for purely enrichment purposes, the equivalent of lending a book or is it, while not making a profit or withholding credit, a form of piracy?

Sula's sketchbook, like the first page, has a thing on how measurement/"feeling" for gesture makes for different images, I recommend checkin both out to see what clicks better with you in the end

That's not to say it's bad -- accuracy is going to dictate how confident you are -- but memorizing every tiny muscle is a bit redundant; IMO construction/function and landmarks are more important
