--I can machine sew no worries, but hand sewing.. noooooooo, even sewing knitting up I stick myself.. and wool needles are blunt *draws blood* yep..so blunt
07 Sep 18:19
--I cannot keep my mind occupied on anything that isn't art, though, so I have to run a show on the background when I bind or something, and then an hour later I have maybe one fifth of a book done and two seasons in and oh god.
07 Sep 18:15
--After I moved I applied for a few book binder positions. One was right around the corner from my old place. "Why you no shiw up in search when I lived there?!"
07 Sep 18:14
--I saw a youtube on how to make your own sketchbooks- full on binding with the glue and everything, hand stitched.. I was drooling by the end, so cute!
07 Sep 18:11
--My book binding is atrocious because I have zero patience but I've made some very cute, very ugly tiny mixed paper sketchbooks

--I scavenge the college studio paper bins for scraps of watercolor and rag people throw out :B savages
07 Sep 17:47
--I still want to make my own watercolour paper, but getting cotton rag to pulp - which is what the best papers are made from, sounds like more work than it'd be worth really. I love handmade paper though
07 Sep 17:43
--you'd /normally/ tape down anything under about 280-300gsm, but if you're not drowning the paper you can sometimes get away with it - or you could give the paper a wash of gelatine- which is what they use as size, and se if that has any effect, I'm considering that, but being vegan I don't /actually/ want to go buy gelatine
07 Sep 17:41
--I did a pic on my 110gm sketchbook, used not a lot of water- was colouring, not wet washes, didn't buckle much and flattened when dry
07 Sep 17:29
--Okay thanks RP, yeah im watching videos now to get an idea, ive done my line art ready for watercolours tonight :D
07 Sep 17:26
--Wet the paper and let it dry a couple of times. If you're using only small amounts of water that just means more buckling in that particular area.
07 Sep 16:59
--I plan on only using small amounts of water, but i expect it will make the paper wavey regardless :p
07 Sep 16:58
--So if i only use my 110gsm sketchbook for watercolours (just for experimenting) shouls i tape the paper down?
07 Sep 13:32
--Thanks, and I feel you, I have dA and here on my android tablet, and can't do /anything/ touchscreen just spazzes on me

--It is painstakingly hard to edit the group from my phone... but you're in now, and many f you ever have any issues let me know.
