Either way no big deal, I wasn't looking for work yet anyways. Just received a random email. I think the interaction is the thing tripping me out. Unexpected.

Hey Oloo, i dont consider that the worst. Cause if he doesnt pay anything, good, that means you wont spend days on end working for pennies.

07 Sep 06:03

Olooriel

well, the _worst_ case scenario might be that he's not willing or able to pay anywhere near decent money I guess...

07 Sep 05:57

Jeso

--

Yea, best case scenario you get away with the money. Worst case scenario he refuses and you end up with ... kind of decent money

Haha I'm having such a hard time with this because I feel like I need to explain the price to him, but I know not to. Yeah, fuck it I'll just go high and come down if I have to.

07 Sep 05:47

Jeso

--

Thats kinda low. I guess what you could do is, ask him for 150-200 per piece, if he doesnt like it. Come back again with 400 for the whole package

07 Sep 05:46

jsel

--

Like 300-350 for all 4 images together.

07 Sep 05:44

Jeso

--

what did you originally intended to charge?

07 Sep 05:44

jsel

--

higher*

07 Sep 05:43

jsel

--

Hmm guess I can try a bit high than I originally intended and just see what happens. Just makes me nervous, I'm a total virgin to this.

07 Sep 05:38

Jeso

--

Dont go too low, like, dont go below 100$ that would just be silly,

07 Sep 05:38

Jeso

--

if he is scared of that, ask him to offer a price of his own for each piece.

07 Sep 05:38

Jeso

--

thats what i charge at this point to personal clients who have no clue

07 Sep 05:38

Jeso

--

So like, if i was you, I would tell him 200$ per image

07 Sep 05:37

jsel

--

Yeah I was thinking I don't want to scare him off and he's probably unaware of standard rates

07 Sep 05:36

Jeso

--

If its just a personal client and not a company, chances are they are not willing to pay much at all for the work. I've been there, at this point, is better to lay down a set price for the whole illustration regardless of it taking you 30 hrs.

07 Sep 05:35

Jeso

Jsel, is it a personal client?

haven't tried sywork much, but so far it hasn't been working particularly smoothly for me (watching, not streaming)

Well its all about the perception, for me I don't worry about that at all :P

Even though I'm watching an art stream or two on twitch, I can't help but still think of it as a place for gaming streams rather than art streams...

Yeah twitch is badass.
