--Yep, I'm not saying study is a bad thing at all
06 Sep 10:08
--But I do wonder how many other people are pushing themselves so hard to 'get gud' they have forgotten that it's 'process not outcome' and even the 'grind' shouldn't be .. it should all be approached with playfulness
06 Sep 10:07
--Mind you, I'm terribly self critical and an over thinker, I work better if I'm just engrossed in a project I'm enjoying.
06 Sep 10:06
--I think goal setting can become a trap.. I do 'warm up' stuff, every single day (which is figure drawing etc for about 2 hours, but I have no pressure on myself for good outcomes), but after that I am free to go where art takes me, I have projects I want to do, but they are not 'goals' to get x amount better, they are just things I want to do
06 Sep 10:03
--Just gotta remember that 'study' shouldn't be a horrible experience you dread each day, you should be able to approach it with joy and anticipation. I forgot that I love art, especially painting, and I'm not going to punish myself anymore, maybe I'll never make professional level with that approach, but I figure if I'm learning to do something I want to create, rather than learning for the sake of it, it'll be more enjoyable, and stick in my long term memory better

--Decided to delete my 1 year thread, and start a 30 days study challenge instead.
06 Sep 09:37
--yeah my default image viewer has an adjustable timed thing, just need to grab a folder full of good images now
06 Sep 09:18
--you can get the program irfanView it's a picture viewer with a slideshow option
06 Sep 09:09
--does anyone know of anyplace you can get a timed slideshow of environment images? Something I read said about taking 90seconds to get the gesture of an interior or exterior environment, and that souunds like such a cool way to develop the skill of seeing the simple shapes in an environment
06 Sep 09:02
--I think it's this, because I'm signed up I can't seem to find the sign up page -_- heh https://www.uartsy.com/course/30-day-challenge

--It got way too intense for me this week, almost said 'nope, just going to be a hobby' but instead re-evaluated /why/ I'm doing art, found this really good 'get your groove back' course on uartsy, 30 day challenge, day two saved my sanity
06 Sep 08:34
--I think, for some, it becomes more intense depends on the pressure they're carrying
06 Sep 08:34
--or w/e the word is, but! With schedules sabbaticals like every 4 weeks of study, you take the 5th week off
06 Sep 08:25
--Art = fun. Balance is so bloody key. And yeah I'm subscribed to him on the YT (:
06 Sep 08:25
--Yeah... it sort of becomes a discipline more than fun when you study for like a year straight @ 12-14hrs a day. I do not recommend.
06 Sep 08:04
--Like what ahmed always state is, he never looked art as a discipline, rather an activity he does for fun.
06 Sep 08:03
--Yeah, I was just kind of in a slump the whole day, or you could say this whole week. And then I got a feeling to play guitar for a bit, and what reminded me off is to just have fun with whatever I'm doing.
06 Sep 07:46
--If you have you lost motivation, enjoyment whatever, do something else, go for a run, play an instrument, watch a documentary etc. And have fun while your doing that activity, you might just find a little bit a of magic to pump yourself back up why you started with (insert your main activity here) in the first place. :)!
