--It's a good way. I liked Anthony Jones' 'art habit' talk. It came in 3 segments on his youtube channel, and he talks about it. The cool thing he did was drawing two dots first, one where the line will start, and one where it ends, so you can improve accuracy.

--My pencil drawings tend to be very messy and chicken scratchy, which is why I may benefit from doing these exercises-- But I'm not going to do them yet, or maybe I won't get around to it at all.

--yep.. the ability to sort of get it how you want it.. and then, hell you can do any number of hacks to get it 'right'

--I don't think it's important to get an ellipse perfect first go. Every artist video I watch they Ghost it first and entire pieces evolve until there's little of the original foundations left. I think adaptability is more significant than perfection.
