Perspective and Anatomy are my focus, till I have them both down really solid!

Yeah Bookend, I have "How to Draw" by Scott Robertson sitting on my table ready to be studied!

No worries, it helped me a lot so I can give it my recommendation. A lot of the other perspective videos I saw didn't really cover measuring anything properly, they would just throw some vanishing points around and start sketching. This series actually shows you how to measure it all out properly if you need to, which isn't practical for most illustrations but it's something you want to know when you do need it.

Probably for the best, as I'm working on my goals for arm/hand anatomy.. I'm not going to abandon my goals just because I found out that I could do them in a more efficient way.. But once I'm finished them, I'm going to back up quite a bit. XD My sketchbook's gonna be pretty boring for awhile. Cubes and spheres for me!

The Colour Constructor Richie? It's pretty great, there was a youtube video about it I can find if you like

Might be able to do it in a couple of weeks or so.

I can't afford this at the moment, but I'll keep it in mind-- Thanks a lot SS. :)

Ohhhh, I see.. Nah, doubt I'd need 3d references. Whew. Glad that wasn't integral.

He's horrible at explaining himself and the first few videos are a mess. But once the demonstrations start, it's impossible to miss anything.

The subscription price isn't bad. I don't think I'd opt for the 3d option, but I'm not sure what that entails?

It's excellent for beginners, every single diagram is done step by step on camera.

02 Sep 23:07

Do you think that it's good for beginners going into perspective, or is this going to be overwhelming? :P

I haven't seen the Anthony Jones videos, so I can't compare.

Well, that's pretty important. Small details make up the big picture.

That's not all of it, the webmaster got lazy and hasn't included all the videos in that section.

The New Masters Academy does the opposite, it makes no attempt to simplify it and as a result covers a lot of details no one else does.

Have you gone through it yourself?

Thanks, I appreciate that. I also have some of Anthony Jones' gumroads that cover perspective-- He also has some stuff on his youtube channel which really simplifies it a lot. I'll be checking them all out first, just to get my mind fresh and ready and empty enough to pick up these concepts.

I have yet to find anything else that goes into nearly as much depth, but you have to pace yourself because there's hundreds of hours of live demonstrations. Also there's the subscription fee...

I highly recommend the Artistic Anatomy series on New Masters Academy for perspective.

I love Bridgman's style, but I found that he doesn't really cover everything. He'll do a diagram covering some set of muscles in full detail, and then on another just throw some random gestural scribbles at you.

And I'm going to work intensely on perspective in order to see how forms sit in 3d space.. Which is going to be boring and tedious to start with, but I'm sure I'll get into it.

Now I'm starting to see that I lack core fundamentals that I didn't realize.. So I'm filling in gaps in math, namely, geometry.

Ironically, it's the first book I bought, but it was a bit too thorough for me at the time that I got it. Back then, Bridgman helped me a lot more.
