I like the use of the ink to get the darker areas in - I'm bad at not being able to get my watercolours values dark enough, I think that's possibly more to do with low quality paints with little pigment, because I can use it pretty pure from the tube and it still isn't super dark

Naw, just joking - Loomis has a good tutorial on it, if you go hunt in the art discussion threads I posted a question about roundness, and Amit left a huge bunch of persepctive figure drawing related items which you might find useful

Yeah I never went too far with inking, not without makings washes - I can't handle no gradients and hatching with ink is a bit too powerful.

You know, I've always kind of hated still lifes - I'm doing pen, ink and watercolour ones, freeking loving it, even though they are turning out terrib;e due to pens being too thick and forgetting to make the white areas etc.. heh

I'm so pissy with my ink pens right now, my .03 and my .05 are buggered, the fountain pen I refilled has decided to be all heavy handed and juicy.. and I have no fine liners now :/

Mostly design, to be fair. I did a few concept related excersizes and particularly favourite a tutorial by Patrick Brown and an inking one you'd like by Yuko Shimizu.

No catch, when I did it first month was free, and if you introduce people and they join you got a month off and so on. Like I said, only real drawback was having to log in and watch the videos all the time chewed up data.

oh, still have it, new customers 3 months premuim 99c, wonder what the catch is

And it's by the artist/illustrator, not a teacher with a curiculum.

Skillshare is pretty good. 9.95 a month and take as many classes as you like. I had issues with bandwidth and crazy housemate back then so I cancelled :(. Plus they changed the website format so I couldn't save the video from cache for offline viewing anymore :(
