Well goals isn't really a schedule though,

Somehow I feel it's better to let go of the schedule you set yourself and focus on just taking the next step

The problem with that is, as soon as you missed one day/week/goal, it gets three times as difficult to get back on track though

Instead of leaving the thread in the dust.

Brian Hermelijn

Not to offend any person whom created their thread, but I have found if someone starts a thread in there, they should keep them self responsible for what they started.

As much it says Death line, it should be called Death Section instead. Hehe.

29 Aug 05:57

Brian Hermelijn

I mean, look at the deathline section,

29 Aug 05:57

Brian Hermelijn

Gonna change the section of goals for sure though, already completed my 21 days challenge for exercising,

Awesome idea! It's a great way to keep at it.

Since I'm still exercising 4 times a week :D

Preparing to start my own goal thread as well, I have found the exercise blogging kept me doing it because 1) I'm posting it 5 times a week for peoples to read 2) It was fun, and still is.

No problem mate.

I was just thinking that the other day. Lazy me, just putting it in my sketchbook, haha.

By the way, don't forget to document your 1 month challenge in the thread you started :D

29 Aug 05:38

Woot! Amen to that :D

Its part of the learning journey.

Yeah, for sure! :D

Makes sense, Hermi. I think that my process before failed me because I was so intimidated by how much I needed to learn that I lost steam. And now I'm seeing that the process can fail-- And when that happens, it's time to make a new process.

29 Aug 05:36

Brian Hermelijn

Since I'm doing a couple of switches, such as taking the conventional way/academic kind of approach for a month, to see what it's like to learn through such system.

29 Aug 05:36

Brian Hermelijn

--

Yeah my overall learning changes every few months or so, at start it was a set amount of numbers, now its more of what steps I want to take, and develop mini-goals that gets me one brick closer towards the long term goal, which in itself is to get better with drawing a "specific subject", but currently going through that phase.

I'm just explaining why it seems to be helping-- And, that said, it might change.. In fact, I'm counting on it. And then I'll change it up again. Keep it fresh.

True enough. We're all individual and we all learn differently.

So, after 88 hand/arm things, I'll move onto torsos, and then to legs/feet, and then the whole figure, and then cycle back, or do colour studies. It's nice to have a focus, whereas before I was kinda spreading everything out and lacked direction.

29 Aug 05:34

Olooriel

not everyone learns the same way :)

29 Aug 05:34

Olooriel

if it works for you, that's cool of course, I'm sure it does for some

29 Aug 05:33

It's been successful in changing things up for me, but it's not my usual way of doing things. I'm actually pretty encouraged with it. For me, my goal is progression-- Even if my 'deathline' is 88 hand/arm stuff, I know that I'm not finished with them yet. I can -see- that my skill isn't going to be mastery. But it gives me a plan to go by, which is something I lacked before.

29 Aug 05:33

Olooriel

and "40 down, ten to go" certainly helps to put me into exactly the wrong mindset

29 Aug 05:32

Makes a great deal of sense.

29 Aug 05:32

Bookend

For sure.

29 Aug 05:32

Olooriel

but for studies, you don't want to get in the mindset that the finished piece is the end product

projects are different, of course
