i ahd so many people over the years to this day that think im wasting my life if i had listened to them i dont know where i would be

28 Aug 19:32

Jan Kloidt

they are amazing artists and pretty funny guys, too. and shaddy is an art director now, not so much an artist anymore so its ok that his work doesnt compare to some of his peers. but if guess if you dont like their humor they come across as arrogant pricks :D

Yup, no shortcuts

improvement is a thing that will take years and years

I wouldn't have minded at all if it had been constructive, this was basically "you suck, your comic is shit" I'm learning to take critique, but pure vitriol throws me. Probably because I /know/ I'm not good, I don't actually need to have it confirmed :D

28 Aug 19:30

Hobitt

--

i have some opinions about those two but i rather stay quiet lol

28 Aug 19:29

Jan Kloidt

--

just listen to shaddy and maciej talking about their friends early work as horseshit. because that's what it was back then, and now it isn't anymore

28 Aug 19:28

Hobitt

--

and yeah constructive crit is great

28 Aug 19:27

Hobitt

there will always be someone offended on the internet and honestly who cares those people dont pay your rent and are not your friends atleasts that how i percieved those situations my entire life

28 Aug 19:27

Jan Kloidt

--

nothing wrong about a honest crit though. if your work sucks, and someone points it out and is constructive about it, accept it. everyones work sucked at some point. those who admit it and consistently try to improve are the ones who make it in the end. no exceptions.

Punk-A-Cat

mmm I think it wouldn't have bothered me if there wasn't some truth to it, so it's fuel to work harder

28 Aug 19:25

Hobitt

opinions dont matter

28 Aug 19:25

Punk-A-Cat

yep, was an artist, someone who I must have somehow offended I guess.. idk.. I just walked away, felt hurt, but I know I need to build a much thicker skin anyway, so trying to

28 Aug 19:23

Jan Kloidt

--

if its an artist who insulted you he/she probably sucks and instead of admitting and working on it, puts others down to feel a little better about his/her shitty ego. about the lowest thing you can do as an artist imo

28 Aug 19:21

Punk-A-Cat

--

I know, but artists should be building each other up, not being haters.. nobody draws like anyone else, there is room for all of us

28 Aug 19:20

Jan Kloidt

the business is a competition though, and a bloody tough one

28 Aug 19:20

Jan Kloidt

--

heh, happens. it's the best fuel you can get. make their eyes watery of jealousy when they look at your art in a couple years

28 Aug 19:20

Punk-A-Cat

I do feel like a monkey chasing a banana - or a squirrel trying to drag a giant pizza up a tree.. it's crazy, Crackeds thread reminds me art is supposed to be FUN damnit, not some bloody competition

28 Aug 19:17

Punk-A-Cat

I got the rudest comment I've ever had in my life today about my art.. that blog post totally made my day as a result

28 Aug 19:09

or bananas

28 Aug 19:07

Jan Kloidt

also, this feeling will never go away. even mullins still has it. doesnt matter how good you are, it's all about chasing carrots

i sketch with a 0.3 mech pencil and i love it... then again i sketch super small it depends on how big you are working too

28 Aug 17:49

Punk-A-Cat

and I like inked lines that almost aren't there, I get torn between just using graphite, and having super line ink lines

28 Aug 17:49

I like working with really thin lines.. idk, I just /like/ it.. I don't like spotting blacks and american style comics, I like the fussy chicken scratch english style..
