wtf do you actually need a 0.03 pen for? How detailed do you want to ink??? I have that Staedtler set you mentioned and I hardly even use the 0.05... I've also got some old technical pens of my dad's that are even tinier, and I generally don't use those ever...

You don’t grow by staying within your comfort zone. You’ll be a stinky stagnant little pool of moldy potential with little insects buzzing around and having desperate sexy times and laying eggs all over the damn place. You need to get your creative juices flowing like a big majestic waterfall! Force yourself to draw something that you know will be difficult. Force yourself to draw something you have no interest in at all and find a way to make it interesting.

will check if they ship.. problem for me is once you add on shipping etc it gets relly expensive, the nz dollar is really low against the us one at the moment, I think it costs me closer to $8 to buy a $5 item

Hm, actually the Sakura Micron themselves are on sale on that website

I mean that one is kind of far-fetched, but keep the idea of regularly checking art supply stores so you can snatch stuff on clearance

Punk, check this out - it's on sale, it's use-able with watercolor, and even thought it's not black, it's 0.2mm. If it's something you'll use a lot, you could consider stocking up on it, and check the shipping price to your location: http://www.dickblick.com/products/koh-i-...escription

I got a pentel hybrid gel ink pen with waterproof ink, it's a .7 but it blotches ink and smears, horrible, despite the fact it's nicer to draw with

Unrelated... anyone know if a brand other than copic that does really superfine multiliner/ pigment markers (needs to have waterproof ink) - I have a copic .03 but the nib has disappeared into the casing, it's toast, it was expensive as far as these pens go, and I'm kinda not wanting to buy another one of the same brand as a result, stadtler only seems to go down to .05 but I want the really fine lines, and the stadtler one is noticeably heavier weight

Right now I can only claim internet/phone and electric. But I'm switching other bills to my name to claim more

28 Aug 10:12

and keep all your paperwork - if you get audited you need to show it back 7 years here in nz, dunno what it's like where you are, but from when you first start earning, just keep the paperwork, check what you can claim too - here you can if you are self employed you can claim 10% of your bills - power, phone etc as using for the purpose of an office

28 Aug 10:10

Punk-A-Cat

Yep, do check the tax rates, here in nz at least, if you earn under a certain amount you pay less tax, and often you get money back rather than have to pay out

In my experiance (I worked as a web designer) you as a contractor are always responsible for the tax, and you /need/ to put that money aside in a seperate account you can't touch till you need to pay it
