gah, I applied for a job illustrating a kids book, and the info I've got back would make it only worthwhile if the book has max of 5 images in itfor the price they are willing to pay.. plus it's people drawing.. and they want an example pic of a /child/ and they have sent me reference images of an adult.. not sure if I should just say nope, I'm not quite good enough yet or what.

It'd be weird if students modelled at their own school :S here they have to be part of an agency, which is good for the school because someone will always show if there's ever a cop out and good for the models because theyre covered.

I don't think I'd ever to be a model for a class. I always feel awkward when it's a student, like I'll see them on campus and think "hey, I've seen you naked"

She brought in some really interesting things though. I got to see a blind copy of Peter Pan where the illustrations were sorta raised for blind folk to feel around

For a life drawing studio, wasn't any variety, just some blind lady.

I painted the same blind model for over a year, we never had anyone different

Couple of weeks ago a model came in thinking she was in for a portrait class nope full nude, but she did in anyway

We all kinda paused in horror and he was like "...NOT NUDE. CLOTHED. I'll pose clothed." and we all breathed a sigh of relief lmao

I remember having our nude model being late to class and the prof was annoying and saying that if she didn't show, he'd pose for us.

Point is, there is no rule other than Respect the model and others who are there to draw/paint.

Another time I drew nothing but action gestures; another time I had to render the face because the model was like she walked out of a Sargent painting kind of beautiful.

28 Aug 03:29

Another time I was struck by the beauty of the muscle forms on a model, and drew nothing but his shoulder and arms the whole time.

felt like a waste of a trip, but that is a false feeling. I had reason to study feet, and so I did - feet of different gender, sizes, colors, ages. In the end it was worth it, and better than just trying to see my own feet from very limited view angles

28 Aug 03:26

Once I went there determined to study only feet, and that's all I drew

so when going to these life drawing sessions, are you aiming for accurate representations or do you loosen up understanding and analyzing without copying with pinpoint accuracy?
