no it's not the light, it's the whole environment and people and all - I guess that's called "It's the experience when you're in it."

cos i find that the difficulty lies on how well the figure is lit.

I can do nice looking animal studies, but when I sketch in zoos, my drawings look like a kindergardener's

@meat hmmm i see. how is the lighting set up in a typical life drawing session?

28 Aug 03:19

meat

That's normal I'd say

draw from life as much as possible

There's a feel that's out there and you capture it when you're there too. Stuff on screen doesn't have that much feel, it's more analysis-friendly

as you may know i always whine about not having the luxury of going to one , but i usually have the time to draw from my peeps when theyre asleep or stationary, and when i draw them its difficult. compared to drawing from these videos

28 Aug 03:16

It's that feel, I can't explain it

just a stupid question, for people whose frequently going to life drawing sessions , how does it differ with this croquis cafe videos? i mean what do you guys think is missing when drawing from these videos that you will get in going to a typical life drawing session? how does the lighting fair? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1qrhVA05Ps

I actually have no idea what I'm talking about, I assumed it was an excerpt from a novel

but its cool, i'll just make up my own things where its lacking explanation. it's still restrictive enough to challenge a specific design

what I've read seems more like different "flavours" of magic

28 Aug 01:47

Olooriel

I don't think it's actually paint or anything to do with art, but I don't know the series so I might be wrong

28 Aug 01:47

Jan Kloidt

oh didnt know it was based on something else, thought the colors were just taken from mtg

28 Aug 01:45

meat

so.... brief = mad artists?

28 Aug 01:45

Olooriel

--

seems to be a sort of magic with different aspects based on colours

28 Aug 01:45

meat

--

and they stick the condensed crystal powder of magically toxic paint on their bodies to make themselves more so - which happens in real world too with Cadmium and Lead and all

28 Aug 01:43

Jan: Yeah the brief confuses me because I don't know that fiction series, but it just sounds like people in a fantasy world where paint can make you insane

28 Aug 01:42

meat

But I hesitate too because I might not have time to act on the crit suggestion and I fear that's disrespectful

I'll be doing the CHOW challenge for sunday! cool stuff! the brief is a lil confusing here and there but it looks really fun!
