--Still, it's nice to have fresh pairs of eyes look at my stuff
28 Aug 01:38
--I suppose I don't like bothering people with my stuff when it has all the usual issues of beginner's work anyway, so I could just look up any critique of someone else's work and it would apply to mine just as well
28 Aug 01:35
--I'm hardly the most active dagger myself, but I've been around for a while and never posted there either, though
28 Aug 01:34
--Not that strange at all. People are more likely to want help than take the time to give it, they're also more likely to want people to look at their work rather than look at the work of others and comment on it, and they're likely to disappear after one critique that didn't sit well with hem, so they're never seen from again. Why the more active people aren't posting much there, I don't know though...
28 Aug 01:22
--That's one of the reason I don't really go to critique section as much,
28 Aug 01:20
--cool stuff jan , i also found tons of figure drawing tips on the link you provided
28 Aug 01:18
--Isn't it strange that some of the people posting in Crit Board are newly created accounts that only have that 1 post in the community? I'd feel weird doing a crit or paint over for a ghost.
28 Aug 01:04
--ah, alright. what I mean is imagine any one of these in a real-life situation, maybe just your friend standing next to you doing any one of them right now. You'd most likely either think WTF ARE YOU DOING MAN or it'll just look exaggerated and fake. some of them are better than others, but it's very unlikely that you will need that exact camera angle and lighting to begin with
28 Aug 00:59
--However you do get peoples that can create art works out of those poses of course. :D
28 Aug 00:59
--Reason I said that, because I can't really say whether or not they're stupid. After all, I haven't done any kind of practice in regards to atelier poses so yeah.
28 Aug 00:57
--It's ok to have an opinion :) If you completely disagree and want to paint them just for art's sake - that's totally fine with me; I'm not here to tell you what to do :D
28 Aug 00:47
--thats why they are stupid, they have no story, no meaning, but they are good for anatomy practice
28 Aug 00:47
--you know, those poses no one would ever have in any situation except in an atelier
28 Aug 00:45
--It's 2900 different poses, but they are all pretty much useless for 1:1 usage. Which is good! 90% or so are just those stupid atelier poses that show a lot of muscles and shapes etc but they mean absolutely nothing. So you are still forced to draw your own pose and use the images as a supplement to get the anatomy right and enhance your idea, which is how ref is supposed to be used anyway
27 Aug 22:10
--i tried clicking through it until my hand hurt so i looked for an addon and its absolutely amazing
27 Aug 22:09
--takes about 15 min to set up, about that much of download time as well. never look for pose ref again :D
27 Aug 22:08
