heh, it's pretty much like that Amit, I use it to ask technical questions, and to answer technical questions, and I try to close my eyes to the whining.. I've had some good convos on how to use certain mediums etc, but the "pay me attention" threads drive me crazy

But I'm sure if I focused on one thing I'd be better at that, I'm striving for better over all. I could easily settle for being an animal portrait artist - my comfort zone, but I don't wanna :D Like you said Amit, people aren't going to ask you how long you spent learning, they are going to look at what you produce and decide if it fits what they want.

I think the point is more "are you trying to improve" not "have you drawn for x number of hours" because if you draw the same thing over and over you just get proficient at that thing. I just had someone tell me they are 'leagues and leagues' ahead of me in art, because they focus on drawing characters and nothing else, and their anatomy is still broken.. I can't even muster up the care to be even slightly offended, I just don't understand that level of ego

Ah yes, hours counting. Probably the most pointless thing you can do for your art. I also did it early on and gave up because I realised nobody asks you about the numbers of hours you have clocked when it comes to getting hired.

We need art colonies here. No rent, grow food, do chores, make Art. Closest thing is a complex where rent is lesz than $50 p/w for a whole studio but you have to audition and meet a quota and use the complex's services to sell it. More like an Art Farm that one.

Yeah but I travel for 4, sleep for 7 and generally try to work for the rest so I can pay rent. Say between 3-5 spare hours of any day at best a third of that 16%.
