I'm doing lots of small studies of things close to me in the hopes that will help, but distant objects, I have issues with

I know, another reason why I feel super guilty avoiding them.. some of my problems is I have zero depth perception due to poor eyesight, so still life is crazy hard

Yeah Punk, sometimes being forced is good, but you really also have to be able to force yourself, or sooner or later it will come back to bite you in some way.

Why? Because the fundamentals comes as second nature in a way, not sure if this adds up to the current topic but yea.h

Still life drawing, its like part of the reason I'm starting at square one again, tackling the very basics. After all, in the atelier process/academy, what you do is hone down fundamentals, them ore you do it, easier it becomes, and eventually you can make something of your own a whole lot easier.

I'm sure if I was being 'taught" I'd have to suffer through still lifes and spending 40 hours finishing one piece

Mmm I think it has gotten easier already, but I still find myself over thinking - there are things I know I'm not good at, like still life drawing, but I also hate it with an unholy passion, so I have this guilt for avoiding something I feel I probably should do. And I tend to work quickly, so probably less polished than things should be

Well the self-teacher's path is always fraught with uncertainty. I can say that you will start to get more of a handle on it as you go. :) So unlike life, it actually does get easier and easier.

I think I went through a bit of being oblivious to /why/ my stuff wasn't right, and because I could see mass improvement, I thought I was doing well - beginners self illusions, but I very much doubt I'll ever think I'm good enough/ can't do better, I just got whiney about not knowing how to learn.. still feel a bit like that at times, would be much easier to be told what to do

26 Aug 11:09

:) so true! I thankfully never went through that phase myself...always knew I could do better hah

I know I was them not so long ago, but darn.. time travel to go back and slap myself is required :D

Yeah I'm not taking it personally, it's just tiring when you get people begging for help, but they want some magic bullet, not to be told "hey sorry, you're not a special snowflake, there are no shortcuts"

or at least immature when it comes to their own work. I wouldn't take it personally.

Sounds like teenagers, or kids. The majority of people who interact on there in community seem to very young.

Blah, I need to stay away from dA.. so many people whining that their sub par art work isn't getting them the fame and money they crave, and when they ask for critique and you give it they tell you that you are wrong, you don't understand their artistic vision >.<.. I think I'm over people.. or maybe I'm just being extra cranky today -_-

yep meat, low blood sugar, dehydration, can cause dizziness

Also... is it normal to get dizzy and shaky handed if not enough of the right food and water is eaten in a day?

26 Aug 10:13

meat

<--- just ate some cookies from Spain, followed by some Spekulatus, both of which contrast greatly from the big, round, thick cookies.

26 Aug 10:12

...I'm starting to think "cookies" mean very different things in the US and in other countries...
