hate is perfect art fuel, why not make the project about how much it sucks? :D

It's just so.... blegh. It's trying too hard to be like Melbourne and Sydney, and failing hard. It's the gummy cousin of cities.

//rant I'm off to try to see my boring city with new eyes, Jan, don't worry!

That's my story. The world ends and evey city on earth is in ruins - except brisbane because it's already that way.

I just hate my country lol, being about to head across town to a job I dislike is also affecting my outlook a little.

nonono you don't have to do transformers! that's just my own idea, you can do whatever you want

02 Aug 06:40

Fair enough but, I live next to a stadium. Concrete transformers would be a peach.

Jan Kloidt

take andrew wyeth for instance, he's in the middle of nowhere and all his art is just about that - and it speaks to people because they know what it's like; it comes from a real place and from a real experience

Jan Kloidt

there is interesting stuff no matter where you are, even when you're in the middle of a salt desert you can probably find something. you won't always find what you initially want, but you'll find stuff you never knew you'd love until you stumble upon it

02 Aug 06:36

Jan Kloidt

there's some additional thoughts on that in the ramble box, but it comes down to the idea that you have memories connected to your own photos and your own environment, so your images will be infused with way more information and meaning

Tasmania is the exception! But I am not there.. if they had better internet I would probably move there. /rant

And architecture! don't get me started... Shacks, Wooden Shacks and concrete blocks. That's what we get for having cities only 200yrs old. 400, like in the US and maybe we might develop some culture.

Like there wasn't enough here trying to kill us. Literally, it's a drought-defence mechanism, Gumtrees drop branches and yes I have been hit by one.

02 Aug 06:31

Why do I have to take my own photos? I have like my own index of free to use images for reference. This is Australia. We don't have tall beautiful knotty wooden masses. We have bushes, shrubs and Gumtrees that try to kill you.
