Richie, while it's a viable option (which originally what I planned to do) it's a total different experience if you have other aspiring like minded individuals to learn with.

yea but its not the same i think as actually going to a school, because there is nobody to correct you when your wrong, so sometimes you misundersstand stuff

22 Aug 07:44

Brian Hermelijn

Yeah that's also the reason why I want to move out, apple..

22 Aug 07:44

appleseed00

so if there are more artists abroad that means you have more chance of increasing your skills, and making friends :D

i think going abroad might be the best option, that some pretty harsh environment down there in the carribean

22 Aug 07:42

appleseed00

just work crazy hard. think about the hardest youve ever worked and times it by 100

22 Aug 07:42

Brian Hermelijn

So yeah, researching all of the things I need to be mindful for, and see which options is best. Either stay home work while study through online means, join contests etc. or use the one ticket way to go abroad.

its gonna be tough either way...

Sure gonna be a tough road if I go abroad, but can be my biggest realization/challenge to overcome :)

Same in UK they acutly had the hours that studants can work reduced, since so many student were just here to work and make money

hermi, many countries will allow you to work a reduced amount of hours as a student (north america/Oz/NZ is around 20hrs /week) Not sure about europe.

(With home I mean Curacao)

22 Aug 07:39

Brian Hermelijn

Or the other way around is to study at home, while working as an "IT" which I dislike a lot, save up, see if there is a possibility of moving out, after saving up etc.

22 Aug 07:39

appleseed00

--

you cant work much while being a student in many places, there is like 10-15hr limit

22 Aug 07:38

Brian Hermelijn

--

Well I did mention about illustrator part haha, it's the direction I'm heading towards to, but reason why I want to go abroad is one, its my ticket towards moving out of the island (of course have to know whether or not you can work while been a student), and second I get to explore the environment of studying near other aspiring artists maybe.

22 Aug 07:36

appleseed00

so there ya go so just research jobs for illustrators and ask some professional illustrators what to do :D i think there are a couple on this board actually

Making pictures.

22 Aug 07:36

appleseed00

--

making pictures is illustration, designing things is concept art

22 Aug 07:35

Brian Hermelijn

--

I don't see myself as a concept artist.

22 Aug 07:35

appleseed00

--

think about it this way, do you like designing things or making pictures

22 Aug 07:35

appleseed00

--

this type of art is both fine for illustration and concept art

22 Aug 07:35

appleseed00

You are into environments etc painterly, and characters, a more whimisical style.
