--try building a house on sand :D

--Engineers, heh, i flatted with some civil ones - they could quite literally argue about dirt for hours... sand loam vs loamy sand.. it was /boggling/..

--At the moment /everything/ looks like a mistake to me, I absolutely cannot judge my work, so I've switched from trying to look at it critically, to making a mental list of things to work on, and not going for final polish right now - like my figure drawing I've gone back to finding the bean and the line of action, because everything about my figures looks terrible to me *shrugs* idk, I don't want to get hung up on it so being nice to myself

--That's not to say you won't go through slumps....they will inevitably happen (I went through one horrible one just a couple of months ago), but if your love for the process is strong, you will get through it!

--Yep! Of course, you have to be able to critically look at your own work and identify where you need to improve (doesn't seem that hard for most of us lol), but angsting about it ain't gonna do much good, but working with focus will. XD We all need to lighten up a bit sometimes really

--Best advice ever Amit, I think we get lost in this "I MUST GET GUD" mentality and everything becomes disappointing because it's not good /enough/, but if it's process, and enjoyment, then you look back a few months later and say, "wow, i got better but it wasn't a horrible process"

--My advice would be to really try and forget thinking about rating your own progress. Art isn't only about the outcome it's about the process too. If you try and remember why you are doing it, why you love doing it, then progress will come but without the angst

--thanks for the encouragement guys, yeah i try not to forget about that. maybe its just the cost of being isolated to much , i need to get out and watch a movie or something

--I am right now drawing a female human figure and I know its awful but I'm already better than I was 2 days ago :)
19 Aug 06:18
--The thing is that you have to improve to be better. You, better. not the others being worse, no. just push, everyday, a bit

--ha im in the same boat, its tough thinking that im so behind how im I ever to catch up with these art greats
