I could put books or something underneath a small table here or something

15 Aug 07:17

Hmm, true

For drawing board, you cna just use something flat and hard, put your paper on it with a clipper. :)

Well if you're using a wooden table etc. You could always just put 2 blocks underneath it so it becomes a bit tilted like 30 degree tilt or so, can help well vs flat. For me at least, maybe somebody else can fill you in with more information in regards to that.

IF you're drawing on a flat surface, you can lift your arm up a bit and rotate the paper when needed etc.

Thank you Zearthus. I don't have money right now but I think streching and chaning my use of the arm-power/shoulder will aliviate most of the problems, and then, a drawing board :)

I have to stretch almost always so :) My arms have always got tired sooner than later

Since I have a drawing board, so I always draw on an angle now.

15 Aug 07:12

Zearthus

Well I don't really draw much on flat surfaces, but other things I can say that helped me in my case, is stretching.

15 Aug 07:11

Yes

15 Aug 07:10

Zearthus

I assume you also draw flat on the table?

15 Aug 07:08

On ctrl-paint also says to do some pages of elipses and straight lines to get used to it

And yesterday while trying to do a Betty's drawing of a pineapple my forearm said "stahp", so I'm trying to change the posture of my hand and the tension of my arm

15 Aug 07:06

wasgodx

Thing is, I write using a lot of arm power to write faster.

15 Aug 07:06

wasgodx

And I'm drawing exactly like I write

15 Aug 07:06

I'm in a really comfortable chair, altho my sitting is not so good, my back is not touching anything and I have it angled towards the table

15 Aug 07:04

Zearthus

And what about your posture/sittings etc.

15 Aug 07:04

Zearthus

How exactly you're drawing?

15 Aug 07:04

THank you Zearthus. I hope it helps to get the forearm pain away in the following days!

One thing you also have to keep in mind (for traditional) is the angle of the surface you're drawing on,

15 Aug 06:59

wagodx, definitely. Drawing with the whole arm is so fun, especially when you want to make fluent lines :)

15 Aug 06:54

I really need to learn to acoompany and use the shoulder, if not, my arm is going to keep hurting lol

15 Aug 06:54

wasgodx

--

Yes, that kind of. Whatcha mean "loopey"? :)

15 Aug 06:36

Also you mentioned confidence in line - sometimes we can wobbly lines. It helps to turn the page to the line is along the arch of movement your arm wants to take, and look at the point where you want the line to end - not where your pen meets the page.

The thing I learned was that line represents an edge in 3Dimensional space, not a symbol for a shape.

15 Aug 06:33

RottenPocket

:D you mean the sort of scratchy sketchy line? Yeah try to just go loosey goosey and not lift pencil/stylus from the page. Get loopey, it helps with learning form.

Already have a chick :) But I have to stop doing this kind of haired line, I need to throw confidence on it
