RE: Portfolio class- Character Development! - Jmob - 10-04-2012 DAN! Thanks so much for doing this (even if I don't get picked). I'd love to learn more about art history, and telling stories through a character's wear and gesture. I've been studying gesture drawing/life drawing at a community college and other workshops (as well as a whole lot of studying by myself) but I'd like to go even more in depth. I'd like to add more story to a person by adding wear that is practical yet expressive and definitely produce the best art I can to become self sufficient--and not living through my parents--but by your guidance! Illuminate the path golden boy! This course would help me much more than a book would because I learn easier through people. I'm 21, I've been studying art seriously for a little over half a year. My name is Jacob Mobley and I am a crimson dagger. Here is my portfolio: jnmobley.blogspot.com RE: Portfolio class- Character Development! - emooi - 10-04-2012 He Dan, love to take part in this class, also in advance, thanks for taking the time to mentor (even if i don't get chosen) Character design is something i really love to do but sometimes its hard to make it "pop"! pose wise, color wise, and even background wise. So yeah, I'm all in to step my game up. The other problem that i have is the time to finish a piece, in every piece i put like 50+ hours or around that amount. I don't know if it is a strength because i want to keep pushing it to the very best. but on the other hand, if i ever would receive a freelance job, the time to finish should be a lot quicker. so i also hope to learn to spend your time as efficient as possible. my personal goal is to earn my bread and beers through freelance work. So i have much to do and every little help to improve myself is more than welcome. My portfolio, sketches and digital pieces: http://www.erikmooi.nl Thanks :) RE: Portfolio class- Character Development! - Chilingo - 10-08-2012 (10-02-2012, 06:22 AM)Chilingo Wrote: I want this soooo. Much you are the person that got me started with art! www.chilingo.deviantart.com RE: Portfolio class- Character Development! - Mr. Toodles - 10-13-2012 Hiya Dan, hope you choose me as one of your students. I'm a self motivated college freshman who spends all of his free time trying to get better at drawing and painting and what not. I don't study anything art related at school, so whatever progress I've made so far is from late afternoons of working hard with my study partner whenever I can. Thanks for making this effort and really giving a lot of your time and knowledge on this subject to the online art community it's stuff like this that really helps me believe I can make it freelance Here's all of the recent work I guess i'm going to call a portfolio http://crimsondaggers.com/forum/thread-1280.html Here's my sketchbook that gets updated as fast as molasis http://crimsondaggers.com/forum/thread-934.html RE: Portfolio class- Character Development! - Heliux - 10-14-2012 Like I lot of people, I'm working hard to get better. I want to do everything and don't think I'm limited to any one career path, but gotta start somewhere. I've been drawn to the digital workspace and conceptual design because it keeps thinking as an active process and the focus is on the process of imagination. I think capturing people is my favorite particularly because it gives the viewer a reference to emote. So! -Definitely jumping at the potential opportunity for guiding hands. Part of the struggle of being self taught is knowing what material to go into first and having a regimented structure. I think what everyone is doing to mentor is pretty awesome, so thanks for promoting a community that keeps the focus on hard work to get there and helps peeps out with a more hands on approach! http://crimsondaggers.com/forum/thread-816.html http://heliux.deviantart.com/ RE: Portfolio class- Character Development! - eZTarg8 - 10-15-2012 Guessing the spaces have gone...but if not, I would love to apply for a space, My gallery : http://eztarg8.deviantart.com/gallery/ I need to polish and improve in so many areas, but finances preclude a college course, and a little guidance would go a long way.
