Laura-I'm so sick of this image, but I'm still trying!
Jones- Thanks dude!
Sickbrush- :D

So I've been in the studio for about three weeks now. As much as I've wanted to focus on illustration, I have had to do a lot of traditional oil studies as I've gotten kind of rusty. I spend about 46 hours a week working between painting, life drawing, Bargue studies, and my commercial portfolio. I can't stress how amazing it has been to just sit and focus on work. Right now I'm working on an oil painting that's going to be 7' x 7', so the planning is sapping up illustration time. But it's all good. I will probably have to be a bit more realistic about the time span for finishing up my portfolio, especially as I want it to reflect my abilities at their best. Anyways, this is my studio, rough sketch of my oil painting composition, and an update.

The silent dagger strikes.

Sketch fodder for September and a little of November. Life drawing starts about halfway through. Nothing over an hour and half.

Sorry about the lack of updates and activity. As things stack up, uploading becomes more problematic.

Woah, really kicking out the studies! Looking good man!

Thanks Laura!

So the upside to compiling all that work is that I can try to keep this sketchbook up a bit more, the downside was realizing how crappy all my drawings were, blargh.

I'm kind of working everything up all at once. I realized I made some thematic mistakes along with some design and drawing problems....soooooooo more fuckin' rework. This project will be break me. I'm learning a lot by not giving up on the images, but damn I'm sick of working on them.

Anyways a small progress update on some of the work.

I split off the third design for one of the other cultures, and have started a more appropriate substitution.

Camron- Thanks!
Ben- Thanks mang, maybe one day I will actually learn how to shoot my paintings. Sorry for the distorts and glare, etc.

Unless anyone sees any major flaws, I'm calling this one done. I have to move on. There will be a graphic element added near the bottom. Anyways, next!

Sketchbook pages coming soon.

Corey great sketchbook. The only critique i have for the last image is moving the female over to the left or the right a bit.. She has a very symmetrical look.. One rule is compositions that i learn is that you never but your subject directly in the center of the image.. Great work. I love the progress in your work.
