Good work you got here - keep pushing your focus and do those master and expression studies. They'll come in very handy when you want to do imaginative works.

Read some Loomis and found it very helpful. Definitely a long way to go still, but one step at a time! Red one's referenced.

Loving your sketchbook man, so much interesting stuff and variety in your illustrations, I especially like the way you did the stills above, there's a lot of expression with just simple shapes, keep it up man!

Thanks! The idea was to just do four or five tones to get the basic composition of the scenes, but I found it was difficult to separate the elements from the background without more colour depth. In the end I think the exercise became more about stroke economy than composition - oh well!

Here's today.

This and next week will be filled with combat training and overtime, I'll try to produce something prettier to look at, but until then: gestures.

Welcome to daggers man, Id say do more skeleton and anatomy, get Hogarths dynamic figure drawing, or Hamptons book if you can. Alternatively search "anatomy" on Pinterest or Tumblr, it should come up with some good results. Interior and building paintings look pretty good. Also every once in a while take the time to do an extended figure study, remember to paint around the forms.
