I've been in a very weird non-productive and slightly depressed mood lately. I apologise for the lack of posts. I want to work, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I just sit all day and watch tv shows and throw in an anatomy study or a doodle here and there. I need to get the hell out of this rut! Come on peeps, kick my ass! :) :)

Two quick sketches. The first one is just super quick and random. It snowed for like 10 mins in England, so obviously it's a huge deal. and I wrapped a weird guy in christmas lights. the second one is of a generic werewolfy character. I need more originality in my stuff. For the second one, I realise it's very dark, but I wanted the eye to be the center of everything. Some rim light would've been good I guess. Wish I had thought of it at the time.





and one more environment piece for my uni project. My perspective still sucks so much. It's really annoying because I was following the guidelines and everything, but in the end it still feels off. It feels lifeless and boring. My colors suck and so does my attention to details. The only things I like are the mom with the child, the guy with his arms out and the boxes on the left. Egh, I gotta practice more.

Dude! I know the rut feel haha - do not get consumed by it!

If you keep just lounging around and doing a study here and there, you'll get rusty like a rusted bicycle and you won't be able to pedal fast like you used to!

Its great to go hard at studying and everything but it's a leading cause of burning out if you keep doing that... If you're watching TV shows, just sketch keep sketching while you're watching, draw whatever you want, draw fan art of the show, whatever! So long as you're having fun with it.

If you seriously don't feel like drawing, take regular breaks during the day, looking at things that inspire you. If you feel like playing a game, make sure to stop playing at 29mins so that you break any addiction that could form and watch one TV show instead of a lot at once.

Don't mind me rambling, just don't want you to waste any valuable time :)

smrr - Thanks a ton man! Such a great post! I agree with pretty much everything! I actually managed to get out of that rut, by having a "no computer day". For one day I was doing anything but touching computers and it felt great. I now feel refreshed and ready for work. I'd recommend it to anybody. Thanks for stopping by man! Those zombies are awesome man. The village enviros remind me of skyrim lol. I spent too long playing that game lol. I just started doing environments, any tips?

butterscotts - Thanks! I'm glad they remind you of anything, really :D Aaahm as far as tips go, I think the main things I use is perspective and reference. What I need to really start implementing is composition rules. I always forget to put those in and something always feels off.
