This week: Wildcard!

Congratulations! You've just been hired by a couple getting married next month to paint them a cover for their wedding invitations. John and Jane Stockman aren't that "artistic" themselves but love art of every style and era, and also are big fans of sci-fi and fantasy. They have no idea what type of illustration they want, they only know a few things:

  • They must both be in the image (doesn't have to be full body)
  • It can be done in any style or genre
  • You may take liberties with their look (hairstyle, facial hair, physique, tattoos, piercings, etc)
  • It must depict somehow that they are now a team or that their love will last for many years (until one of them dies)

Here are the only photos they sent you as reference:

Guidelines:
  • You may use photographs of other people for John and Jane, but you must include the photographs you are using in the WIP thread.
  • Photo textures, 3D, and traditional mediums are allowed.
  • Studies are recommended, but not required.
  • There is no restriction on image formats (horizontal, vertical, square).
Rules:
  • You must post at least one WIP in the WIP thread to be accepted into the final poll.
  • Finals must be posted in the finals thread before the deadline.
  • Only ONE final entry please.
  • Sketches, WIPs, or rushed artwork will not be accepted into the poll.
  • No fanart. Please do not include direct references to other IP's, we want to see your original, unique interpretations! (For example, C-3P0 and R2-D2 in the background, or John and Jane holding the Ring of Power. Indirect references, like compositions of famous pieces, art styles, etc are allowed)
  • Have fun!

Deadline is Sunday, March 8 @10pm GMT

Too much winging it in this one, ended up tweaking it and not making much progress all night. Should have explored more compositions from the beginning and done better color studies. Lessons learned!

Lol, I see people having some fun at this topic, and it's great! It reminds me of one of the Level Up streams where they were discussing one of their freelance job was to do exactly this, and they ended up doing centaur and mermaid. Also reminds me of the Big Hero rich kid's heroic portrait on his wall.

Focus.
