I decided to do a very quick and rough paintover for you. I don't know anything about the anatomy of pandas so it's probably very off. Either way, I think having the panda still behind the character but flipped would look nice.



This looks pretty terrible but I hope you get the idea, haha.

I also saw something now that you did that I didn't and that was the whole composition thingy.
The "correction" I made, made the composition quite wonky, like it wasn't inside of a triangle anymore but actually going outside of the picture.

Made a super quick side by side comparison with your paint-over and my own correction.  
The one you did looks better to the eye, but as you said the panda looks a bit strange, quite pressed together in a way. But I still see what you wanted me to see.
