Cool stuff, man. These portraits are coming along well.
I think you have a tendency to over-moddel form with your values and I would suspect that this has to do with a lack of form along the edges of your contours. There's always a tendency where if you lack something, you naturally overcompensate with something else. So in the future, pay attention to the contours more. This is where you'll find a lot of overlaps and halftone shapes that really give things a sense of real form. In these portraits, take a closer look at the shapes and values in the jawline to see if you can find those qualities that make it feel three-dimensional :)
