Hey guys I'm looking for critiques in general for this piece but I also have a specific problem I was wondering could be addressed.
One thing that I've noticed throughout the 2-3 years I've been digitally painting is that my pieces always feel washed out or lack punch, and usually what I'll have to do when I get closer to a finish product is use layer adjustments (levels/curves/etc) to correct this.
I'm attaching two images to show you guys what I mean, the first without layer adjustments and the second with. I don't mind using layer adjustments, but at the same time it really makes me feel like there's some sort of core understanding that I'm missing which leads to my images feeling washed out. And like I mentioned, this is something that's been following me for a while and so it's quite bothersome.
Am I just not using the full value range correctly? What do I practice to get better in this area? Am I just overthinking this? lol
