Anvar's Sketchbook till I get better

Thanks a lot! I did some still lives, and man, did I forget how good they are for understanding how light and materials work. Thank you for all the feedback. I appreciate it.

Yeah, there is a lot to say about the subject and I am trying to figure it out as I go since I haven't been painting that long and even though it's not really new to me, the mental part is still a struggle. That mental side of the question, as I understand, will always be there. Of course, it is going to get better in some regard, but reading through a lot of people's thoughts here, especially the people who I consider to be masters of their craft, I have to accept that the internal fight is going to be present even after most of the technical things are solved.

P.S. I hope that my critique helped! If there are more questions, please, ask away.

Hello, Jephyr. Welcome. Thanks, I am trying to find some sense in these closed environments.

This batch of sketches were quite something. Definitely tried new things (forgotten old things, that is) and learned a lot from these still lives. The first still life was made using an artificial light and, overall, I am happy with it. The second one, however, was painted using natural light, and started at a very inopportune time since light changed to almost complete darkness in an hour. Well, that's some wisdom for future.

Other than the still lives, I made a sketch that I am quite satisfied with even though I do not think that I've learned all that much from it. Mostly, the lady and the dress and the pose, and most things in the picture are in my semi-comfort zone. I, however, did pay more attention to the hand which I usually skip. The face is also worth mentioning for its quality. Using different brushes helped me think of form in a different way. I am definitely not staying with the round brush forever now that I see what even a simple brush like an airbrush can do. It helped me in making a face that I am actually proud of, and I have been paying attention to heads and faces more so that means something.

Lastly, I just wanted to say: the most important thing is mileage in my case. I have to crank out more than I am doing now, way more. So wait for a new batch with at least triple the stuff that I usually upload.

Thanks everyone!
