Hello fellow earth citizens and all those visiting from 'other' dimensions.
-------------------------------------
Thanks so much.!! Working out full backgrounds with ultra-refined characters is something I've been working on through the years. Glad if you think my anatomy is ok (I was getting rusty at it) and I'm happy you like the master's study.
Thanks so much, Dominique! I share those reference sheets in part to encourage other art peeps to not be afraid to use tons of refz — glad you agree about using LOTZA 'em.
Yeah, it's interesting to try things that seemed outa my reach years ago — that I'm now a bit more able to pull off.
So happy you like the bird and the wasp. I used to do tons of photo studies and just naturally wanted them to look as much like the original photograph as possible. I guess I just got better at it over time. : ) Plus photo studies are a really good way to level up on all rendering.
Thanks so much George. I'll share some more anatomy today and feel like it's slowly coming back to me. Glad you're not seeing any serious blunders in what I've shared recently. That wasp photo-study was a labor of love — painting a micro-photo of the wasp combined with a Calvin Klein tuxedo pic.
------------------------------
Thanks to each of you again! I appreciate all your encouraging comments!!!!

So here's some new schtuff all done this month and as I mentioned to George I did a bit more anatomy work on the first and third one today — and it's all kinda coming back as I do more of them.
Here's the new stuff in order from oldest to newest this month.
----------------------
I shared an early VERY rough WIP of this one on page 6 — but did a TON of polishing up on the design, anatomy, and background.

------------------------
As I said in an earlier post — I used to sketch tons of wacky character portrait concepts. I came across one of those draw'rings from a quite a while ago and splashed some color on it.

------------------------
This next one is from a sketch I did LONG ago and shared a color WIP in my previous post.

Edit/update: Here's the original sketch

------------------------
Here's an old ant photo study I did when I had a commission for a children's book author wanting me to do some cartoon ant illustrations for her.

------------------------
I honestly don't know if I should share this one because it's so bad...but
this is one of my first digital paintings from a gillion years ago and maybe it'll encourage others on their art journeys.

------------------------
Thanks again for your comments and visiting my little corner of the whirled. : )
See ya next time.

your level of rendering goes hard love the waspy man. Even in the one where you say your anatomy a bit off the rendering of the muscles is done incredibly well
the master studies are replicated really well ^-^

The smooth gradations on that bird are FANTASTIC!
Wow, the wasp is very photorealistic. Have you spent years studying photorealism? :)
