The Wonder Woman illustration came out really solid, love the dynamic lighting you incorporated on the latest one, very well done!Thank you, CG. I know for a fact I love chiaroscuro and sharp edges. So once I saw the ref, I was like, 'Let's go!'.
I think I'm actually starting to get the basics now. I think I have the basics down, regarding layer sequence: Overpaint> Lineart> Flats>Sketch. I found digital really hard for the longest time, because I didn't know how to cover areas quickly, and I found the brushes over lapped when I used them, like a marker would. Great, if that's what I was aiming for, but most times I wasn't. Also, hard edges. I tried with the actual 'paint brushes', but then I discovered you could use pencil and pen brushes. I literary didn't know you could do that, as I thought pencils were just for sketch layers and pens for lineart ones. I found out curtesy of Steven Zapata's CSP vector layers tutorial that you can use normal brushes rather than just pen tools. The CSP course never made that explicitly clearly. I think it's just pen tools are formatted too have easier control points in order to adjust, if needed.
Decided to have a go and try and paint the Colleen and Misty pic. Here's the flats and final render. I followed Ayeoops tutorial and applied it. Their was empty space, so I just experimented with the 'Speed lines' under the 'Figure' tool and random shapes.
